  • Can Urban Foxes be relocated outside London?

Releasing foxes into the countryside is a extremely poor welfare and disease management practice.

    The reasons for this are:

    1. The relocated fox would have to compete for a space of its own against local territorial foxes; therefore the potential for dispute and demise is high.

    2. On survival the 'dumped' fox would still be and intruder and more than likely be chased away by other foxes; again, the potential for death is still high.

    3. Relocated (dumped) urban foxes increase the risk of disease spread to health populations of foxes.

    4. Relocated (dumped) foxes will potentially return to where they have been removed from.

In terms of animal welfare & disease management, we do NOT relocate urban foxes.
