• Setting your own Fox traps 09 July 2017 | View comments

  • If you have decided to set your own fox trap - you are ultimately responsible for any live animals that you catch.

Do not set a fox trap unless you have already made arrangements as to how the trapped fox is going to be dealt with.

You must comply with The Animal Welfare Act 2006 at all times.

The relocaing of urban foxes is a contravention of this act as it will cause unnecessary suffering and is not appropriate it terms of animal welfare or disease management.

The trapped fox will need to be dealt with humanely without delay.

If you have trapped a fox and how no legal means to dispatch it you must release it where it was trapped immediately.

Pre-planning is very important. Seek professional help and assistance if you are not experienced in such matters.
